James E. "Jimmy" Davenport, Jr.

James E. "Jimmy" Davenport Jr., 63, of Mount Washington, passed away July 15, 2018.  He was a retired LMPD officer, a member of Salt River Masonic Lodge #180, a member of the Jefferson County F.O.P. Lodge, a member of Kings Baptist Church, and a United States Army Veteran, serving in the Persian Gulf War.  He is preceded in death by his father, James E. "Dicky" Davenport, Sr.  He is survived by his loving mother, Esther Brumley Davenport;  a son, James E. Davenport, III;  four daugthers, Kristina Cathey, Rebecca Browning, Taylor Gibson, and Victoria Davenport;  two brothers, Scott and Mark E. "Eddie" Davenport; a sister, Sharon Cornell; along with seven grandchildren.  Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday at the Kings Baptist Church with burial to follow in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central.  Visitation will be 3-8 p.m. Thursday at the McFarland-Troutman-Proffitt Funeral Home and after 9 a.m. Friday at the church.  Memorial contributions are suggested to Trooper Island Camp, www.kentuckystatepolice.org or the BMT Clinic at the University of Louisville Hospital.

Esther, Eddie, Sharon and Scott, I am heartbroken over your loss. Jimmy was a devoted son loving brother and a loving father and grandfather that was loved by many and will be missed by many, he will always be with you in spirit and he is with his Dad now and they both will be there to greet you when God calls each of you home, until then treasure the memories and God will help you through this until you are together again. Jimmy,rest in peace my friend, you are gone but not forgotten.
