Leonard Russell Hammond, 90, of Taylorsville, returned to the Lord on Wednesday, September 19, 2018. He was a retired employee of International Harvester, a farmer, a member of Kings Baptist Church, and also enjoyed his time at the Mt. Washington Dairy Queen. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Winona Tyler Hammond; his daughter, Judy McWherter; parents, Hugh and Stella Cox Hammond; and brothers, Arthur and Elmer Hammond. Leonard is survived by three children, Linda Spaulding (Danny), Jimmie (Shirley) and Sonny (Sandy) Hammond; son-in-law, Dennis McWherter; along with 10 Grandchildren & 12 Great Grandchildren. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at McFarland-Troutman-Proffitt Funeral Home with burial to follow in Highland Memory Gardens. Friends may visit from 1 to 8 p.m. Friday and after 9 a.m. Saturday. Memorial gifts are suggested to the American Cancer Society in memory of Judy McWherter.
